Swiss Air Force - Eurocopter T-352

Apparently, one of the two Swiss Air Force VIP transport helicopters landed in the field opposite this evening!

It's an EC635P2+ model with the registration number T-352.

The pilots were nice guys - clearly displaying the royal thumb of approval!

Tiger ADV Days 2013 - Day 10

The last day...
Ancona to Aargovia.

The day started with a nice morning light...

But you know what they say...

"Red Sky in the morning,
Shepard's warning!"

And they're right!

As from Milan we had RAIN!

I hate rain...
Have I told you that yet?

We left the ferry at 07:00 with lovely warm weather - arriving in Aargovialand at 18:30 in the rain!

But I arrived safely - that's the most important thing.

Tiger ADV Days 2013 - Day 9

A nice coffee to start the day - Franck Croatian coffee!

Then time to slowly pack the bags, load the Tiggers and be on our way to Split.

We'd decided to ride out on the finger of land (name to follow) past Ston. This was a strange and impressive defence wall from previous times.
I'll Google and read about what it once was.

There's not much out on the finger - so we had a coffee and Ice cream then turned back and headed for Split.

We got there with plenty of time and were soon checked in and awaiting boarding instructions.

Here a great thumbs-up contestant.

So first thing first...
Beer!

Then food.

Tiger ADV Days 2013 - Day 8

Breakfast was a cup of coffee back down in Gacko's center. The local police didn't seem to mind us riding up on the causeway and parking!
That's a strange feeling.

Shortly afterwards we were back on the road to go and see a 2nd World War memorial at Tjentiste. The road out of Gacko clearly shows the larger industrial town it is.

Half an hour down the road we came to the memorial - set back off the road.

It's a huge thing!

From the memorial we back-tracked a little before turning off left at Korita to head towards Montenegro.
The road became a rugged track...
The boarder control - non existent...

After a while we came across a little village with very welcoming and friendly people. You can certainly see the difference from Bosnian people - a different culture totally.
So it was time for food!

Including wasps!

From Montenegro we turned back into Bosnia... But this time my faxed copy of the Green card didn't work! So I had to buy a 3 day one - costing around 30 Euro.

From Bosnia we went quickly down to Dubrovanik in Croatia.

Exiting Bosnia was an interesting experience...
As I went into the guard post to collect a stamp in my Adventure book - the two guards were busy listening to Serbian music while casually thumbing through a passport then had taken. The fact was, there was a que of at least 10 cars waiting to enter and they were enjoying the song!

The view coming over the hills to the Adriatic coast.

The view down onto Dubrovanik.

Obviously Dubrovanik is VERY touristic - so we only quickly rode down to the castle before refueling and head up the coast line to a quieter place.

Which was Slano.
A place with rooms by the harbour and beer!

After a refreshing shower it was time to eat :-)

A great place.

Tiger ADV Days 2013 - Day 7

The morning started nice and easy.

The HD riders were up and off before us! They were heading for Sarajevo.

I first had to get myself a Green insurance certificate... So with a phone call to Allianze I had a fax copy sent to the hotel.
We were set to go to Bosnia! Mostar.

It became quickly apparent that the roads are a little rougher here...

With all that rough stuff we need some food... Kebab plate! Lovely.

It appears that although they have the Bosnian Mark here, they are happy for the Euro.
So after the food it was a push onto Mostar.

The famous 'Old Bridge' in the center of Mostar. It's a very tourist place.

From there we went on in direction of Montenegro...
We stopped at Gacko where Bruno found a hotel that's to GARMIN.

The Tiggers were parked around the back then it was time to shower and go for food.
Here's a real moody shot as we walked into town for a plate of meat.

Then a real mans plate of food...

Meat!

Cut the crap - keep the green stuff for the puffs. We need MEAT.
