Parents Visit & Locarno - Moon & Stars

Two lovely ladies... So my parents have come over with their motorhome for their summer holidays. We decided to travel sown to Locarno to see Laura Pausini in concert at the Locarno Moon & Stars festival. We stayed at the Camping Piccolo Paradiso site. It's lovely! We arrived on Friday evening. Stefano & I drove down through the Gotthard with my parents following, while Anna collected Sarah and came down by train. We were also joined by Carlos (Alstom) & his girlfriend. Saturday morning we all went to Cannobio in Italy for lunch and a walk around. Saturday night was the concert, and we went down to Locarno by bus. On the Sunday we drove back over the San Bernardino pass... The Patrol struggled on this one! It's a very steep incline. We went through the tunnel while I told my parents to go over the pass. They did and both said it was a lovely road. Over the following days we went out to visit several places, including Bad Säckingen and the longest sodden covered bridge in Europe. Mmmmmm. .. Spare ribs!

Collected The Caravan From Bankenhof

There will be no more time before the end of July for us to stay up at Bankenhof, so we decided to fetch the Caravan and put him back in Siggenthal.

-14 Degrees C ~ Time To Install Winter Tyres!

Maybe I left it to late, but with -14 degrees and snow on the ground, I thought it wise to change to winter tyres.
So off I went to the Bartholomä garage first thing and had them fitted.

While waiting and drinking my coffee, I thought I'd write a blog entry...

Now I know why Renault have/had a bad reputation!
With tools like these, no wonder...

But somehow this one's still going strong!

Not bad for 1927!

Cool Tshirt ...

Greece 2011 - Day 12

Well today is our last day on the island of Crete!
After breakfast and paying all bills we decided not to go to the beach today but drive up to the Lasithiou plateu. It's a plain up in the mountains where Zeus was born. It's at a height of over 800 meters!
The drive up was great.

On dropping down to the plain we saw signs for off-road tours!!!
Book me in for next time!
The view onto the plain was super!

We stopped to have lunch in Psycho - the village where the cave of Zeus is.

Then we drove up to the carpark to go and look at the cave...

But it was closed - due to strikes!

Anna, Stef and I walked up anyways!

All the way to the house at the top... But it was defiantly closed!

The views from up there were lovely too.

So then we headed off for the harbour.

On the way to Heraklion we stopped at the coast... for about 30 seconds!
Far too touristy for us!

So we drove directly onto the harbour. And then walked into town.

We took a bite to eat and a drink at the 'newscafe' where they have fast internet! And a funny menu card...

The coffees were done nicely too.
